Imagine this, your Bluetick in the open sun. Playing, chasing squirrels, eating. They are very athletic. Blueticks are better than your average dog. Blueticks can do much more than you might think. The Bluetick hound did have to be created by 2 other dogs, but that is just more to love.

Bluetick hounds have different characteristics than most dogs. Blueticks coats are short, glossy and colorful. They have a strong musty scent. Most Blueticks have black spots on the back of their ears. Also some of them have white stripes across their noses(Polinsky).Blueticks also do not shed much,so they require very little grooming. They are also very intelligent and love humans. The French Staghound and the English foxhound created the American English Coonhound/Bluetick Hound(Polinsky). They also descended from the grey wolf. They are fast and have an excellent sense of smell. They are also known to steal food. Feed your mixed breed in the same location every time so that she knows where she’ll be eating.( Field-Babienue)

Bluetick hounds have amazing personalities. Bluetick Hounds love people and they grow very attached to their owners. They like to stay right by your side(Polinsky).  Blueticks are a big bundle of energy. They are also quick to chase a scent, but they can be noisy. They are also the best hunting dog. They can also be stubborn, but they are easy to please. Bluetick hounds are great with children and they enjoy napping. They also praise food rewards and the food can be used to train your Bluetick.(Polinsky) You can also train your dog with paper. Paper is the usual surface cover of choice for indoor potty spots.                (Fields- Babineau)

Bluetick Hounds need a lot of care. They need daily walks. They also need some playtime so they can keep out of trouble. It is important to visit the vet for regular checkups.Vets can give your dog vaccines, spay or the vet can neuter it(Polinsky). Basic grooming can keep your Bluetick feeling great. You need to clean its ears weekly to prevent infection. Ear infections aren’t just minor annoyances- they can cause hearing loss, damage to middle ear and/or fever from bacterial infection( Fields-Babineau). Brush Blueticks coat, trim its nails regularly, and brush its teeth with special toothpaste. Without regularly brushing your dog's teeth, your dog can develop gum disease that can cause them to loose their teeth maybe even harm their organs such as their heart.

There are different food amounts for different ages of dogs. It is a little complicated to have the right food all the time for your Bluetick Hound. The food that should be available to your Bluetick Hound should be dry,wet and or semi-moist. Also fresh water should be available. Puppies should eat about three meals a day. Meanwhile, adults should eat about two meals a day. Their food should be rich in protein and should have healthy fats (Polinsky). It should eat the same food its breeder gave it. Do not overfeed your Bluetick Hound a proper diet gives Bluetick longer, happier life(Polinsky).

There are different sizes and lengths between Male and Female Blueticks. Females weigh 45-60lbs meanwhile, males weigh 55-80lbs. Females are 21-25 inches long and males are 22-27 inches long. They also have a domed head and floppy ears (Polinsky). Some may have droopy ears that do not allow air to flow within the canals to dry out retained moisture. (Fields-Babineau).

Blueticks are amazing dogs. They are really popular in farming regions. They will try to help out the best they can. They are also a real big help. If you need a hunting dog or an energetic dog then you should probably get a Bluetick hound.
